The Global Power City Index (GPCI) is a global urban index that evaluates and ranks the major cities of the world in relation to their comprehensive power which allows them to attract businesses and individuals from around the world.

The Global Power City Index YEARBOOK 2016 is a full report of the GPCI-2016, providing detailed account on its methodology and result. The city profiles analyze each of the 42 target cities of the GPCI and illustrate the city’s strengths and weaknesses in reference to the score and ranking of the 70 indicators. The indicators are designed to measure the city’s performance from the perspective of “functions” (Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility) and “actors” (Manager, Researcher, Artist, Tourist, and Resident). In GPCI-2016, a careful review of data for some indicators was performed to ensure that evaluations more accurately reflect actual conditions. This included the addition of quantitative data to indicators previously obtained through surveys alone.
