This report proposes “blossoming as a mature global city” as the overarching concept for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics legacy and Tokyo city image, and suggests various aspects of the near-future lifestyles that can be expected in Tokyo urban areas as the result of this legacy. It also identifies the infrastructure and human efforts which are needed to support these lifestyles in order to visualize a city image for 2020 Tokyo and identify the comprehensive policy package necessary to realize it. It also presents typical Tokyo city lifestyles in each season to be experienced by visitors from different countries and regions in the form of a guidebook, so that readers can physically or virtually experience and consider the near-future Tokyo urban lifestyles. This report creates a picture of the journey to these near-future Tokyo lifestyles in and somewhat beyond 2020, and it represents our hope that the movements aimed at realizing them will take on greater strength. The city lifestyles shown here will become more polished and prosperous through actual experience in the future, and it is our dream that these efforts will eventually produce a true Tokyo City Lifestyle Guidebook.
