The Global Power City Index (GPCI) is a global urban index that evaluates and ranks the major cities of the world in relation to their comprehensive power which allows them to attract businesses and individuals from around the world.

The Global Power City Index YEARBOOK 2017 is a full report of the GPCI-2017, providing a detailed account of its methodology and results. The city profiles analyze each of the 44 target cities of the GPCI and illustrate the city’s strengths and weaknesses in reference to the score and ranking of the 70 indicators.
The indicators are designed to measure the city’s performance from the perspective of “functions” (Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility) and “actors” (Manager, Researcher, Artist, Tourist, and Resident). The detailed definitions and sources of the indicators are also included in the book.

Also included as a special feature is a summary section for the “Tokyo 2035: Enhancing a Radiant World City” symposium that was held during the 2017 Innovative City Forum which took place in October 2017. As an added benefit, customers who purchase the Yearbook can view, for the first time publically, the animation for the Tokyo 2035 Vision which was shown at the symposium.
