Tokyo Future Scenario 2035

It is an urgent issue for Tokyo to enhance its position and attractiveness in light of globally-intensifying competition among cities.
Cities, recently confronted with the unprecedented world financial crisis, may struggle to depict their future images due to increasing uncertainty about socioeconomic conditions. Therefore, new methods and ideas are required to configure future city images.

What are the qualities that Tokyo, as one of the world’s leading cities, needs to maintain its substantial competitiveness and magnetic power? What are the issues? We would like to present a future urban strategy for the city by carefully thinking about these questions.
We chose to apply a method of scenario planning for this project. We plan to depict plural scenarios for Tokyo and induce/deduce policies and action programs in order to materialize a desirable scenario.
